In 2018, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Seekers being named Australians of The Year just five months before their surprise break-up, Ambition Music is proud to announce the release of the group’s three classic Australian television spectaculars from the Sixties as a complete DVD set.

Beautifully-presented, ‘The Seekers – The Legendary Television Specials’ is an all-in-one collector’s edition that gives Seekers fans the chance to watch the spectacular and meteoric rise to international fame by Australia’s most successful Supergroup, a fairy-tale story literally unfolding before their eyes.

From 1966’s ‘The Seekers at Home’, with the grainy, black-and-white footage that was the hallmark of the early days of Australian television, through the filmed-in-colour, big-budget 1967 musical travelogue of ‘The Seekers Down Under’, and the top-notch colour 35mm film that captured 1968’s ‘The World of The Seekers’, viewers witness a folk quartet singing for their supper in a Melbourne coffee house, transitioning into the global pop phenomenon they were to become in just four short years.

All the chart-topping hits are included – ‘I’ll Never Find Another You’, ‘A World of Our Own’, ‘The Carnival is Over’, ‘Morningtown Ride’ and ‘Georgy Girl’ – as well as many of the group’s most popular evergreen favourites … ‘Someday, One Day’, ‘Red Rubber Ball’, ‘We Shall Not Be Moved’, ‘When Will the Good Apples Fall?’, ‘Colours of My Life’ and ‘Myra’.

Those timeless evergreens are interspersed with historic footage of the group’s record-breaking appearance at Melbourne’s Myer Music Bowl; airport mob scenes; and an inside look at a cocktail party held to present them with gold records. Among the other surprises: Athol Guy, Keith Potger, and Bruce Woodley’s romping version of ‘I Was Born About 10,000 Years Ago’ performed live; Judith Durham’s solo versions of ‘The Lord’s Prayer’ and ‘Study War No More’.

This collector’s item is also a snapshot of Australia in the mid-to-late 1960s: Queensland’s Gold Coast, pre-high rise; Sydney, before the Opera House was finished; Melbourne’s small international airport; open-top cars when passengers didn’t wear seat-belts; the fashions, the hairstyles, the cars…

Official statistics by the Australian Broadcasting Commission reveal that The Seekers dominate in audience share for Australian-made television productions. ‘The Seekers at Home’ recorded a 66% share, ‘The Seekers Down Under’ claimed a staggering 78%, and ‘The World of The Seekers’ snared 75%. In the category of musical specials, The Seekers claim the top three spots. Their nearest rival is the 1964 special, ‘The Beatles Sing for Shell’, which claimed an audience share of 65%.

And in the list of the Top 20 Most Watched Shows of the 20th Century, it’s The Seekers again at numbers nine and fourteen respectively with ‘The World of The Seekers’ and ‘The Seekers Down Under’.

So often archival footage of historic events in Australia is lost in the annals of time, requiring later re-enactments of the stories.

How fortuitous then, that these three iconic productions not only survived, but have been lovingly brought to life again. They’re accompanied by a lavish, 24-page collector’s booklet, crammed with still photography from each of the specials, and the stories that led to each production.

A Christmas cracker from The Seekers!

Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley bring family favourites to life in the true spirit of Christmas. Time-honoured, much-loved carols and songs such as 'Silent Night', 'Jingle Bells', 'O Come All Ye Faithful', 'Away In A Manger', 'Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer' are all included – even a Christmas version of the group’s chart-topping children’s lullaby 'Morningtown Ride!'

With the exception of one track, this material was originally released in 2001 and now enjoys a rebirth, thanks to Australia’s Decca Records label.

The Carnival of Hits Tour 2000

It was the tour The Seekers didn’t expect to happen. But overwhelming public demand brought them back to the stage one more time in 2000, and gave them a chance to celebrate the Millennium with fans in Australia, New Zealand and the UK. The Carnival Of Hits Tour 2000 was a sold out success that saw Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley on a stroll down memory lane. It resulted in what would be their first ever double live album, capturing for all time a concert unlike any other.

Just when you think you’ve been through an archive with a fine-tooth comb and there’s nothing left that hasn’t seen the light of day, there’s always the attic – the long-forgotten tapes and acetates owned by the creators, and their most ardent collectors – especially when we’re talking about a legendary musical act such as The Seekers, the iconic Australian harmony group who have been together on and off for almost 60 years.

Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley first came together at the tail end of 1962 for gigs and residencies around their hometown of Melbourne. How amazing to think they’ll celebrate their Diamond Anniversary in 2022!

What started as a seed of an idea has now sprouted to a three-volume series of ‘Hidden Treasures’ by The Seekers, from the very start through their years of global charts domination when they regularly replaced contemporaries such as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who, and The Monkees at Number One on pop charts all over the world.

Some of the tracks from this ‘attic search’ have previously had their brief moment in the sun; others are being made available in audio form for the first time. Included are jingles for a Melbourne radio station from 1963, two recordings featuring The Seekers (uncredited) as backing singers for Australian chart act Frankie Davidson, as well as two jingles the group recorded for Coca-Cola during a U.S. tour!

Most Seekers fans will have often seen vision of the group performing at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl in 1967, before a record-breaking crowd exceeding 200,000 people – more than one tenth of Melbourne’s population at that time!

But only four songs from that historic 7-song concert have ever been seen and heard.  For decades it has been believed that the other three tracks – “A World Of Our Own”, “The Leaving Of Liverpool” and “Red Rubber Ball” – were lost in the annals of time. Until now!

The Seekers, along with the team that supports them, and Universal Music Australia, are thrilled that this inaugural 27-track volume kicks off a trilogy of releases that are true ‘hidden treasures’, lovingly restored for Seekers fans around the world to enjoy! Fans can look forward to further volumes being released over the next twelve months.

A re-issue of The Seekers' classic and much-loved 1997 album Future Road in a deluxe CD and DVD set.

The Seekers –Australia's most successful international pop sensation, with a sales tally in excess of 50 million records –were back in the studio in1997 for these historic recording sessions –marking their first ‘studio' album in 30 years, since 1967's landmark LP Seekers Seen In Green.

This deluxe CD/DVD reissue sees the inclusion of "Far Shore", the magnificent Harry Vanda & George Young song recorded by The Seekers in the Future Road sessions and originally released as a single. This set also includes the "making of Future Road" video with the addition of the film clip for "Far Shore" –the first "official" clip The Seekers have recorded in their long and distinguished career.

2021 - The Seekers Live in the UK DVD

Four months after the sold-out success of The Seekers’ Golden Jubilee ‘Farewell’ Tour of Australia in late 2013, the group and their team reconvened to do it all again in the United Kingdom in 2014, winding their way through Wales, Scotland and England with a 15-date sold-out tour.

When Judith Durham, Athol Guy, Keith Potger and Bruce Woodley took to the stage for the last time, the audience was on its feet clapping and cheering for several minutes before they even sang a note. Far from any sense of sadness or regret, the mood on this tour was one of celebration and appreciation, both for the group and their loyal fans.

This historic Album & DVD marks the final time that Australian music phenomenon The Seekers toured in the country where their global success story began.

The DVD 'Live In The UK' contains a never-before-seen 30-min interview with all four members of The Seekers, reminiscing about their hit songs and previous tours around the world.
